He usado el mecanismo de Vagrant para provision mediante shell, en este proyecto, que crea un box con un LAMP simple:

Prueba rápida de .htaccess

Crear un archivo .htaccess con un contenido como:

DirectoryIndex test.html

Y colocarlo en un directorio web. AL intentar acceder al directorio con un navegador, se intentará abrir el test.html en lugar de index.html.
